Calvary Not Feeling Pressure Entering Title Game

Sports

The Calvary Cavaliers have punched their ticket to the Division III state championship following Wednesday’s win over Catholic-New Iberia.

The Cavaliers are now just one win away from capturing their first state title since 2012.

There’s no dobut there’s a lot of pressure entering this one, but the Cavs say they’re going to approach the Division III championship like it’s just another game.

Fox Locke said, “It’s just going to be like every other game to us even though it’s the state championship game. We’re going to come in with our heads straight, and just play like any other game.”

Shannon Cunningham said, “Play the game, not the opponent. Play the game, not the atmosphere. Play the game, not the championship, and we just try to pound that into them. We’ve been doing that for four years, and I think as juniors it just means something to them finally, and again, I’m just so proud of our kids. For them to be able to experience this, there’s nothing like it.”

The Cavaliers will take on Ascension Episcopal in the Division III title game Monday at 3:00 at McMurry Park in Sulphur.
