In their last seven games the Dunking Dogs defense has only giving up 62 points per game, thats the best in Conference USA. The Dogs previously allowing 72 points per game in the first stretch of the season and Coach Konkol says the improvements defensively have been apparent as the season progresses but there is still work to be done.
“Eric Konkol – Well I think there’s several reasons, one it’s that we’re getting better at some of the slides and the different recognition that we need to have in making decisions. I think we’re also taking care of the basketball a lot better. When you take care of the basketball you limit some of those transition opportunities that people get and its so easy to score one. So, those two things combined, still want to get better in several areas contesting shots and rebounding but I like the direction we’re headed in.”
