The Foreman Gators are coming into 2018 with a target on their backs. As defending state champions they now look to achieve one of the hardest tasks in sports, a repeat title.
Mark King – We’re going to get everybody’s best shot from day one. We have to prepare that way and that’s what we’ve kind of pounded home with the kids. We can’t live off of last year. This is a new year and we’re going to get everybody’s last shot and we’ve got to be ready to take it.
It makes sense for the Gators to be a focus for other teams considering how much talent will be returning.
Mark King – We have a lot of course we have our Quarterback coming back and then Issac Carver another back, back. We’ve got Chase Boyd in the backfield back. I think seven starters on offense, seven on defense also. We’ve got a good core coming back and a good group of young kids coming up.
This year the season will kick off a little differently on a Monday night and on a different surface. Both factors changing preparation.
Mark King – We’re starting a week early this year. We’re playing in the Hootens Classic on the 27th on that astro turf so it’s going to really be hot and we have to condition our kids for it. A little bit of air conditioning during the week and getting summer practices getting ready for that and now the fall, we’ll be ready come week one.
Just how ready will the gators be?
Mark King – Our motto this year is S.T.P something to prove. We did it last year, some people think it’s a fluke so we’re out to prove it wasn’t and maybe do it again.
