Marshall looking for first win over Texas High since 2009

The Marshall Mavericks are off to a tough start to the 2017 season.

The Mavericks are 0-4 but three of those losses have come by a combined 12 points.

Marshall has another tough test Friday night as they go on the road to take on a Texas High program they haven’t beat since 2009.

Claude Mathis said, “Well I know our guys are going to continue to fight theyre not going to quit on me I know that for a fact. Lost some close ones but you know you dont get rewards for being close you get rewards by winning the ball game our kids know theyve been put in some tough sitautions but theyre going to continue to fight. Its district opener its a rivalry game so its going to be a big ball game a lot of excitment in the air going to be down there friday night but our guys understand its a big challenge we welcome the challenge and its going to be a great opportunity for us.”

Chasen Hines said, “Its a rivalry for one, after Longview its the next big rivalry we havnt beat them in ten years so the senior class right now its tryng to end their streak right now.”
