It’s been a big week for the Shreveport Mudbugs.
First they clinched a berth in the Robertson Cup semifinals with a 3-2 win over Lone Star on Sunday night, then three players were selected in the USHL Draft on Tuesday including Nikolai Jenson, Cole Quissenberry and Matt Weber.
Now the Mudbugs celebration needs to be put on hold, as they’ve got business to take care of up in Minnesota.
While games in Blaine, MN gives several players, who are from the Midwest, a chance to play in front of their families, they say this trip is about business.
Karlis Zirnis said, “We actually talked about that, this is a hockey trip, you can spend time with your family in the summertime with all due respect. They know, we’ve been working for this all year long. It’s hockey first.”
Cam Cook said, “It’s really tough being away from home especially the first year but at the same time our number one priority right now is hockey. We’re going to go take care of the hockey and we’ll enjoy our families after.”
The Mudbugs open a three game series against Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Friday night at 7:30pm.
