Resilient Tigers Headed to State Tournament

Sports

The Linden-Kildare Tigers are heading to the 2A state tournament following their Regional Finals series win over James Bowie.

The Tigers looked like they were heading for a sweep in that series, but a blown lead in the 7th inning forced a winner-takes-all game three.

The Tigers didn’t let that blown lead phase them, and were able to beat the Pirates, 9-4, to advance to the state semifinals.

That resiliency has been the Tigers’ calling card all season.

John Roberts said, “We’ve had to battle. Every single time we’ve had a loss this year, we’ve answered. That’s all you can ask. That’s all I ask to do. Just say look, we’ve got to keep fighting. We’ve got to keep being us. We break out ‘Us’ every practice, and every game. That’s what I tell them. It’s about us. We’ve got to fight for each other, and we’ve just got to keep going, keep coming at them, and be about us. That’s what allows them to do things like tonight.”

Linden-Kildare will take on Valley Mills in the 2A state semifinals. Their game will be Wednesday at 4:00 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
