Shreveport Bossier is hosting the national championship for Kayak Bass fishing over the weekend. Hundreds of anglers from around the country paying a visit. The sport uses a catch and release format where fish are scored by length. The winner on Saturday chosen by combined length of the top 5 five fish over three days. First place winning 50,000 dollars.
Chad Hoover said, “The national championship of kayak bass fishing is the largest kayak fishing event of its kind with the richest payout. We have 461 anglers from 43 states competing for the title of national champion. But what’s special about this event is this is the first time that we’ve used multiple bodies of water. The unique thing about this part of Louisiana is that there are more backwaters and places that are inexpressible by power boats than anywhere we’ve ever had the national championship. We expect some big numbers some big totals and some big grins of guys catching their personal best and a fish that could change their life.“
