Summerfield falls to Simpson 63-53 in Class C State Title.
Brad Cesak said, “This game just came down to Summerfield’s inability to hit shots, most notable missing lay-ups in this one. They were 21-60 from the field. That’s 35 percent, and I can tell you, at least 10 of those missed shots were wide open lay-ups. Now talking with coach Carlisle after the game, he said that was the difference.”
Randy Carlisle said, “I just think we missed probably 10, 11 lay-ups. What’s that 20 points? Lay-ups. We get beat by 10. As bad as we played, lets make a lay-up. When you don’t make a lay-up in the state championship game, you’re not supposed to win championships.”
Cesak said, “So, ultimately Summerfield’s bid to repeat as the Class C state champions falling short this afternoon here in Lake Charles.”
