The Beckville Bearcats took extra innings in their 5-4 walk off fashioned victory against Clifton to seize the 3a State Title. Check out highlights from the game in the video above.
Brad Cesak said, “Two years ago Beckville’s season ended in heartbreak right here at Dell Diamond, falling in the state championship game, an it appeared as if we were heading back down that road again today. The Bearcats down to their final strike there in the 7th inning, but Ben Bridges’ RBI triple sent the game into extra innings, and then Zeke Collins with perhaps the biggest hit in Beckville history, the walk-off game winner to give Beckville the 3A state championship. You’d be hard pressed to find another team across the state with more fight than this squad.”
Zeke Collins said, “Yeah man we’re just going to give it all that we got. This is our last time to play baseball together. Some of us are moving on and playing college ball, and some of us are just going to college, but whatever it is we love every one of each other.”
Ben Bridges said, “It almost felt as if it was destined for us. Like, I don’t know, something just was in us. We wouldn’t give up. We just kept fighting and it paid off.”
Jason Causey said, “We’ve been in these tight situations, and we just never give up. That was kind of our motto. We’ve got to fight and survive and do whatever it takes to move on. We had to scratch a way to get a run to advance our season, and we were fortunate enough to be able to do that.”
Cesak said, “So, today’s state championship brings to the end of the storied careers of those 10 seniors on this Beckville team, and as they told me after the game, they couldn’t have envisioned it any other way. Reporting at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, I’m Brad Cesak.”
