The Woodlawn Knights punch their ticket to the State Finals

The Woodlawn Knights jumped the hurdle they were unable to clear last season by getting the win over McDonogh 35 in the semi finals 62-56. Check out the video above for highlights.

The last time Woodlawn won a state basketball championship was in 1980. Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” was number-1 on the Billboard Charts. We’ll this afternoon here in Lake Charles.. Another one bit the dust.. as Woodlawn punched their ticket to the state championship game with a 62-56 win over McDonogh 35. Tra’Michael Moton has been one of the leaders of this team all year, and he led the way tonight with 20 points.

Kenny Sykes:
As he goes that’s the way we’re going to go. As long as he has it in his hand I’m confident. I know he’s going to make the right decision. He does an outstanding job making the right passes to the right people at the right time. At the same time he wants the ball and he want to go to the free throw line and make those free throws. I’m on the sideline, fussing, raising all types of saying but as long as that ball is in his hands I’m confident we’ll get it done.

The Knights will play for the school’s first state championship in nearly 40 years on Friday at 6 o’clock when they take on Westgate/Carencro.
