Woodlawn looks to reload in 2018

The Woodlawn Knights are coming off a 9-4 season falling in the state quarterfinals, but gone are the likes of Trivenskey Mosley and Larry Moton from that explosive offense.

In fact, the Knights have just three returning starters on offense.

The good thing is one of those returning starters is quarterback Kentrez Roby, who got lots of experience last year under center.

Woodlawn head coach Jerwin Wilson said, “It definitely helps. I’m glad he’s one of the three guys returning on offense. He’s able to teach those young guys to do what they’re supposed to do and be where they’re supposed to be and be that leader that he’s becoming every day.”

Roby said, “I just feel more comfortable taking snaps. I believe I can lead the team more. We have a lot of younger guys stepping up to the plate taking the spots of the big guys that were here. We’re doing pretty good, we’re good.”

Woodlawn opens the season at home against Carroll on Thursday, August 30th.
