A high school teacher in Arkansas is facing 14 counts of rape.
Hall High School Special Education teacher Donald Moore, 56, is on leave pending a criminal investigation, according to a Little Rock School District representative. He has been employed with the district for nearly two years.
Moore was booked into jail just after midnight on Wednesday, and appeared in court this morning.
Pulaski County jail records show Moore is also facing one count of sexual indecency with a minor, and two other counts.
A booking report says Moore is accused of raping and sexually abusing two victims over a number of years, starting when both victims were 4-years-old and going into their teens, 1985-1996 for one victim and 1991-2004 for the other.
The judge issued Moore a $250,000 bond.
The district released this statement on Moore’s arrest:
“We were aware of the very serious allegations made against Mr. Donald Moore. When such matters are brought to our attention, we take them seriously, review them promptly, and follow appropriate protocols. Mr. Moore has been placed on paid administrative leave pending a more thorough review of the matter, as is customary per LRSD policies. We have no reason to believe this matter involves any of our students; however, we will cooperate with authorities as the investigation continues. Because this is a personnel matter, we will not be able to provide any additional comments at this time.”
