TRAFFIC ALERT: I-220 eastbound in Bossier City reopened, murder investigation underway following crash

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – According to DOTD, all lanes are now open on I-220 East at Benton Rd. following a deadly crash this morning in Bossier City.

Congestion has reached approximately two miles.

According to Bossier City Police, officers responded to a vehicle crash on I-220 eastbound just west of the Airline Drive exit at 4:20 a.m. after receiving a call from a passerby.

Upon arrival, first responders located an unresponsive person inside a  vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident as a homicide. No details about the victim are being released at this time until next of kin is notified.

According to BCPD a gold-colored SUV came off I-220 and crashed behind Promise Hospital and a Christus Schumpert facility. Investigators are still at the scene gathering evidence.
