A family came home to find a man, possibly high on meth, in their kitchen, who then tried to attack them with a knife.

The West Monroe family arrived to their house located in the 1000 block of Bailey Street and discovered 38-year-old Scottie Durrant Sr. had broken in.

When they confronted him, they say Durrant Sr. came at them with a knife.

The family was able to fight back and drag him out of their house.

Durrant Sr. told deputies he thought he was at a friends house, and admitted to using methamphetamines earlier in the day.

He’s been booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center, charged with aggravated assault and unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling.

Durrant Sr.’s bond is 25-thousand dollars.
