Family, pets escape early morning house fire

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — An early morning fire forces a family and two pets out of their Shreveport home.

The blaze broke out shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 3500 block of Line Ave.

When firefighters arrived they say flames and heavy smoke coming from the back of the home. 

The two people inside, who were alerted by smoke detectors, along with their two pets were able to escape the fire unharmed.  

It took crews nearly 20 minutes to get the blaze under control which caused heavy fire damage to the outside of the home and the attic area.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
