McCabe: Trump threats have been ‘horrific’

In his first live interview since being fired, former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe revealed Tuesday that he opened a counter intelligence investigation into President Trump back in 2017.

Speaking on “The Today Show”, McCabe said “we thought it might be possible” that President Trump was working with Russia.

McCabe launched the probe after the president fired FBI Director James Comey.

“Why would any President of the United States not want the FBI to get to the bottom of Russian interference in our election?” he asked.

McCabe, now promoting a new book, says he secretly informed top Congressional leaders of both parties about the investigation.

“No one objected. Not on legal grounds, not on constitutional grounds,” McCabe said.

The president has publicly attacked McCabe for days, going so far as to accuse him of treason.

McCabe was fired last year, accused of lying under oath about his interactions with the media, but he says that wasn’t the real reason.

“I was fired because I opened a case against the President of the United States,” he said.

The Department of Justice calls McCabe’s version of events “inaccurate.”
