UPDATE: A Shreveport man is hospitalized following a morning robbery attempt and shooting in west Shreveport.
Just before 10:00 a.m. on May 3, 2018, Shreveport Police were called to a shooting in the 200 block of West 72nd Street. As officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a male victim lying a driveway, suffering what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to both legs. The shooting victim, 60 year old Charles Thrasybule of Shreveport, was rushed to University Health hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
During officers probe of the incident, it was learned, Thrasybule was present in the 300 block of West 72nd Street speaking with another man identified as 23 year old Joe Ford. It is believed while both men were talking, a third man approached them and a heated discussion ensued. As the discussion escalated, the third man produced a handgun, demanded money and shot Thrasybule. Immediately following the incident, the shooter jumped into a vehicle believed to be owned by Ford and fled the scene. Authorities located the stolen vehicle, a red 2001 Dodge Intrepid, abandoned in the 5900 block of Dowdell Street. The vehicle was searched, at which time authorities located illegal narcotics and a handgun inside. Ford was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of schedule one and two narcotics with intent to distribute and convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The shooting happened around 10 a.m. Thursday on W. 72nd St. near Dowdell St. and Linwood Ave.
