As calls for Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s resignation grow in the wake of his blackface scandal, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax is now facing an accusation of sexual assault.
Pressure continues to mount on Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to resign over a racist photo published on his 1984 medical school yearbook page.
Northam first apologized, then reversed course and denied he is one of the people in the photo showing a man in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan robe and hood. At the same time, he admitted to once darkening his skin as part of a Michael Jackson costume.
Meanwhile, Northam’s would-be successor, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax is facing his own political firestorm after an uncorroborated, sexual assault accusation against him emerged, dating back to the Democratic National Convention in 2004, a charge Fairfax denies.
The lieutenant governor’s accuser has retained the same law firm that represented Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford, who last year accused then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
