Tornado damages Mira resident’s home

“This was the scariest thing I ever lived through,” said Melissa Andrews, homeowner.

The Andrews’ say they were settling in for the day, getting ready to watch a movie when a tree limb flew the window.

“It shattered the window and scared everybody and that’s what caught our attention and we took cover,” said Chad Andrews, homeowner.

The Andrews hid their closet. Waiting for the tornado to pass.”It felt like it lasted a minute or two, I don’t really know, but it was here and over in no time,” Melissa Andrews, homeowner.

“After it was all said and done. We came out and saw this,” said Chad. Several uprooted trees surround their . house, a tree lying on top of their pick up truck and downed cable lines spread across the ground.

“Fortunately nothing landed on the house and we were all okay,” said Melissa. The Andrews’ say they have a long road of clean up ahead of them, but they’re happy to be alive.

We were very fortunate. Nothing that can’t be fixed. The neighbors came over and helped patch the holes in the roof,” said Melissa.

“We’re just happy to make it through,” said Chad. The National Weather Service is surveying the damages to determine whether it not it was a tornado and if so how strong it was.
