Thursday has been a long day of clean up for people in the Bethany community who live on Buncombe Road.
After strong winds hit Wednesday afternoon, many people were left with trees and limbs in their yard. Paster Linus Mayes who has lived in the community all his life said he’s never seen a severe storm hit the town. “It was just boom, boom, boom, boom. Tree’s were just falling, falling, falling and falling. My wife was afraid. She was scared.” said Mayes. Mayes neighbors home was hit by a tree right. The tree fell right down the middle of the home.
Just five houses away, a tree hit Marvin Robinson’s home and his mother’s home who lives next door. Robinson’s 84-year-old mother Estelle is on oxygen. “We have no power. So I have a couple of portable bottles I’m issuing out to her right now,” said Robinson. That is not all of his worries. He said a tree in his front yard also took out a water line when it hit his house.
No injuries in Bethany are reported.
