830pm Live Update: Clouds return tomorrow. Rain returns late Friday.

Cooling trend to continue as clouds return.  Rain looking likely late Friday into Saturday.  Most of next week looking dry.

830p Wednesday Live Update:

Wednesday was a sunny and cooler day around the Arklatex.  Temperatures began in the 30s across the northern half of the area and the 40s across the south.  Daytime temperatures have climbed into the mid to upper 50s.  Expect the cooling trend to continue over the next few days as clouds return Thursday and rain likely returns late Friday into the weekend.  We’ll see daytime highs fall into the upper 40s to low 50s.  Overnight lows will stay in the 30s and 40s.

Models are in decent agreement that the heaviest rain from this system will fall over the northern half of the area where one to one and a half inches will be possible.  The southern half of the area will likely receive amounts of one half to one inch.  It still looks like thunderstorms and severe weather will not be much of a concern. See the latest on the arrival of the clouds and rain with the continuously updated 36 hour forecast from Futurecast below:

A warming trend will begin once this system clears the area.  Expect lots of leftover clouds Sunday that will give way to some sunshine starting Monday.  Look for highs to return the the upper 50s to low 60s by the middle of next week.  Overnight lows will be near normal mainly in the 30s.

Average High/Low for today’s date: 36/57.
