Heat to continue as rain chances stay low through the work week. Rain threat to increase this weekend and continue into next week. Coolest air of the season on the way by the end of the month.
830pm Live Update:
Tuesday was another hot day around the Arklatex will a mix of sunshine and clouds. Rain was rather hard to find as it remained very isolated. After lows Tuesday morning in the mid 70s, daytime highs soared into the mid to upper 90s. Don’t expect much change for the next few days. Upper level high pressure will be moving just to our north and will keep rain chances low and temperatures high. High will likely stay in the mid 90s through Thursday. By Friday the high will be far enough to our east that temperatures should begin to moderate and retreat to the low 90s. Check back to this article for the latest outlook from Futurecast below:
A front will approach the Arklatex this weekend on the backside of the upper level high and will bring an increasing chance for some showers and thunderstorms. That chance for rain will begin to increase Saturday and will likely stay rather promising into next week. With the clouds and rain around the area, daytime temperatures will likely fall closer to normal in the mid to upper 80s. Overnight lows will stay above normal in the low to mid 70s. Models indicate that a good inch or two of rain could be possible for much of the area from now through next Tuesday.
If you are wondering on when we might see a decent cool down. It now appears more promising that one is on the way. Long range models agree that we’ll see a good shot of cool air in the next few weeks, but they disagree on exactly when. It could be by the end of next week or perhaps a few days later at the end of the month. Right now it appears that we could see lows dip into the 40s and 50s with daytime highs in the 70s and 80s. I’ll discuss this in more detail live on Facebook at 830pm this evening. If you don’t have Facebook, I’ll embed that live broadcast in this article.
Average High/Low for today’s date: 88/65.
