Chilly temperatures and clouds to stick around Friday. Chance for light rain returns Saturday. Heaviest rain expected Saturday night and Sunday morning. Temperatures dip below freezing early next week.
Thursday was a cloudy and cold day around the Arklatex. Temperatures bottomed in the upper 30s to low 40s and failed to warm much with highs staying in the 40s. Friday looks to be another cloudy and cool day. Temperatures will be warmer but still below normal with highs ranging from the upper 40s to upper 50s. We likely won’t see much rain Friday but the rain will likely begin to increase Friday night and Saturday. Even then, it should be rather scattered. As of right now, we are looking cloudy and mild for the Krewe of Gemini parade. Temperatures will begin in the 60s with a period or two of light rain possible. See the latest outlook from Futurecast below:
A strong cold front will enter the area Saturday night and will likely bring the heaviest rain that we will see for Saturday night and Sunday morning. That rain will likely decrease just in time for the Krewe of Highland parade Sunday afternoon. Models indicate that we’ll see around an inch of rain for much of the Arklatex. It will be rather windy and cold Sunday afternoon with temperatures dropping through the 40s. Wind chills will probably be in the 30s.
Look for the clouds to stick around with a few peeks of sunshine returning Monday. Sunshine will return to all of the area Tuesday and will likely stick around into Thursday. Next week will begin with well below normal temperatures. Expect highs to be in the 40s and lows in the 20s. By the end of the week, we’ll be close to normal with highs in the mid to upper 60s and lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Average High/Low for today’s date: 65/43.
