The weekend begins on a cloudy and cool note with rain possible. Sunday and Monday look warmer. Thunderstorms expected Tuesday with severe weather a slight possibility.
Friday was a much cooler day around the Arklatex with lots of sunshine. Daytime highs were well below normal in the upper 40s to low 50s. Expect similar temperatures Saturday as a disturbance approaches from the southwest.
Clouds will increase over the area late Friday night. We’ll see a cloudy sky Saturday with a chance for a few scattered showers especially over the southeast half of the area. If you have plans to attend the Krewe of Centaur parade, prepare for a chance for rain and for some rather chilly conditions. Temperatures during the parade will likely be in the upper 40s to low 50s. While rain is possible, it is not a certainty. Futurecast indicates that the rain could hold off until later Saturday night.
We will see sunshine return Sunday and Monday with much warmer temperatures. Daytime highs both days will be in the low to mid 60s. That warm up continues into Tuesday. A strong south wind Tuesday will likely heat temperatures into th 70s. As a strong disturbance approaches from the west, we’ll see showers and some thunderstorms develop Tuesday afternoon and evening. It is still possible that some of this activity could be severe although that risk is not yet set in stone. Models indicate that we could see a decent amount of rain from this system with totals of one to two inches over the eastern half of the area.
The rest of next week is looking dry with highs cooling into the 50s. Overnight lows will cool to the 30s. We could see another chance for rain by the end of next weekend. So far next Saturday is looking dry for the Krewe of Centaur parade. Stay tuned!
