Sunshine returns to the Arklatex and could stick around for more than a week. Much cooler air return this weekend with temperatures near freezing possible north.
Thursday began with some late night thunderstorms and ended with lots of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Highs climbed into the low to mid-70s over much of the area with a gusty westerly wind. Look for another breezy day Friday. Friday’s wind will be from the northwest instead of the west. Consequently, we’ll begin to see colder air invade the area beginning Thursday night. Lows Friday morning will fall to the upper 30s to low 40s. Daytime highs Friday will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. This is about ten degrees below normal for this time of year.
Expect the below normal temperatures to stick around through the weekend. Highs will stay in the upper 50s to low 60s. Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s for most of the area. We could see temperatures both Friday and Saturday nights down close to freezing in areas north of Texarkana in SE OK and SW AR.
Look for the mostly sunny and dry conditions to stick around through next week. We will see a very slow warming trend. Daytime highs will return to near 70 and lows will return to the mid-40s by the end of the week.
Average High/Low for today’s date: 69/46.
