Update Friday 830pm from Facebook LIVE:
Heat to increase this weekend. Chance for the scattered afternoon storm returns Monday and could stick around through most of next week. Rainfall potential still looks rather light.
Friday began with a few t’showers that rolled through the middle of the Arklatex. That activity has since ended and sunshine returned Friday afternoon. It looks like that sunshine will continue through the weekend with slightly warmer temperatures. Look for daytime highs this weekend to be in the low to mid 90s. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
The upper level ridge responsible for this weekend’s warmth is going to retreat back to the west early next week. This will allow the heat of the afternoon to trigger a few scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms. Rainfall chances are still looking somewhat low. With the scattered nature of the rain, it is possible that some folks could see a little rain each day, while some stay totally dry. This pattern will likely stick around through most of next week. As of right now, models indicate that we should expect rainfall totals for the week to be around 1/2″. Some areas might get a little more, some a little less.
Another benefit of the rain is that it will likely result in slightly cooler daytime temperatures. Highs will likely retreat to the upper 80s to low 90s.
Towards the end of next week models are hinting at a possible tropical depression forming over the SE Gulf of Mexico. This system if it does manage to form will probably stay well to the east of our area. Stay Tuned!!
Average High/Low for today’s date: 84/63.
Have a great weekend!!
