Wednesday looking sunny and warmer

Sunshine to return for one more day.  Cooling trend begins this weekend.  Next best chance for rain returns early next week.

Tuesday was a sunny, very windy and cool day around the Arklatex.  Temperatures began in the 40s and 50s and struggled to make it back to the mid to upper 50s thanks to gusty northwest wind over over 20 mph.  Look for that wind to become light tonight.  That lack of wind, a clear sky, and drier air will allow temperautres to dip into the low to mid 30s.  Despite that chilly start, expect a nice warm up Wednesday.  The combination of sunshine and a breezy SOUTH wind wll push temperatures back into the low to mid 60s.

Clouds will be on the increase for Valentine’s Day.  The good news is that we will likely not have to worry about rain that much.  It will be rather windy Thursday as we could once again see sustained winds out of the south at over 20 mph at times.  That south wind will continue the warming trend. Expect highs Thursday to be in the upper 60s to low 70s.  We’ll see similar conditions Friday with less wind.

A cooling trend will begin this weekend.  Expect a mostly cloudy sky this weekend with only a slight chance for a shower Saturday.  We’ll begin the weekend with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.  The cooling trend and mostly cloudy sky will continue Sunday with highs only in the mid to upper 50s.

A good chance for rain returns to our weather picture for the first of next week. Monday will bring the best chance for rain mainly over the southern half of the area.  That rain will spread north Monday night and Tuesday.  This event will likely continue into Wednesday.  Models show that another inch of rain will be possible during this event   Once again we’ll have to keep an eye on temperatures as this disturbance moves out.  It is possible that we could see some winter precip Tuesday night into early Wednesday.  Stay Tuned.

Average High/Low for today’s date: 61/39.
