Sunshine to stick around through Friday. Rain could be on the way for the weekend. Some thunder will be possible Sunday night, but severe weather is not expected.
Thursday was a gorgeous day around the Arklatex. Temperatures began in the upper 30s to low 40s but rebounded nicely to the low to mid-70s thanks to wall to wall sunshine. Expect much of the same Friday. We will continue to see plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. It will be rather chilly early in the morning as lows Friday morning will begin in the low to mid-40s. Expect daytime highs to return to the low to mid-70s.
A series of disturbances will bring clouds and a few periods of rain for the weekend. Expect a mostly cloudy sky Saturday with showers possible. Due to the lack of instability, I don’t expect much in the way of thunder both Saturday and Sunday when more rain will be possible. That could change Sunday night. We will probably see the intensity of the rain increase over much of the area, however, instability is still looking rather limited so severe weather is looking unlikely at this point. Models continue to show that rainfall will also be somewhat limited with totals of 1/2 to one inch possible from now through Monday.
The work week will probably end on a dry note. Sunshine will return to much of the Arklatex late Monday through Thursday. Clouds will be on the increase Friday with showers and thunderstorms looking promising again for next weekend. Look for daytime highs next week to mainly be in the low to mid-70s. Overnight lows will mainly be in the 40s and 50s.
Average High/Low for today’s date: 71/47.
